Football club adds heart-start machine to kit bag

WELCOME ADDITION: Liam Bell

MIDDLETON Wanderers FC has added a portable defibrillator to the club’s first aid kit thanks to the Football Foundation charity.
The life-saving heart-start machine is also be available for the village’s walking football team and cricketers.
Club chairman Liam Bell said it was a welcome addition.
“There are 30,000 cardiac emergencies outside of hospital each year and with a portable defibrillator you double the chances of saving a life. Unfortunately, it’s ever present in football at the moment. There was a batch of defibrillators given to the Football Foundation and clubs were invited to apply for one,” he said.
“It came within three to four weeks, which is good news for Wanderers, the walking footballers, the cricketers and everyone around the village.”
The Football Foundation is the UK’s largest sports charity, channelling funding from the Premier League, The FA and the government into grassroots sport in England.
