Store donates £500 for repairs to Middleton-in-Teesdale CC pavilion

TEMPORARY STRUCTURE: Middleton-in-Teesdale CC's pavilion began life as a site office and was intended to be a temporary measure when it was brought to the ground in 1978. A donation by the Co-op will help pay for ongoing repairs while the club prepares pl

OFFICIALS at Middleton-in-Teesdale Cricket Club have been bowled over after receiving more than £500 from a village store’s community fund.
The club will use the cash to replace decking and carry out repairs to the pavilion.
The money was donated by the Co-op through a scheme which asks customers which local organisations they would like to support.
Middleton-in-Teesdale CC’s secretary and groundsman Dave Garth said the club was delighted with the donation.
The club plays in the Darlington and District League B division, but due to the ongoing restrictions, there is little prospect of any action on the field in the coming weeks.
In the longer term, the club is hoping to raise enough money to replace its old pavilion, which actually started life as an old site office in Newton Aycliffe.
It was brought to Middleton in 1978 as a temporary measure and has remained there ever since.
As with action on the field, progress with plans for the new pavilion are currently on hold.
As well as the senior team, Middleton also runs a ladies team, welcomes a number of junior players and takes part in the ECB All Stars scheme to introduce children aged five to eight to the game.
