Durham & North East Cricket League Division Two Silksworth v Evenwood

We are the champions!

Evenwood have been promoted to Division One with a game to spare and are guaranteed to finish top of the table following another impressive victory.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Evenwood recovered from the early loss of opener Lewis Leng (1) to put on a whopping 212 for the second wicket.

The partnership ended when Thomas Teesdale was stumped after scoring 108 for the visitors. However, Risira Lakvin Weerasuriya (101) hung in to score an unbeaten century as Evenwood reached 242-2.

Silksworth looked in serious trouble after being reduced to 53-4 but David Neild (63 not out) and Michael Kelly (47no) restored a semblance of order with an unbeaten 126-run stand.

Evenwood have a 19-point lead over second placed Marsden, who have completed all their fixtures.

The champions will receive the winners’ trophy when they finish their campaign at home to Wearmouth & YAV tomorrow (Saturday, 1pm).

Evenwood 242-2 (45 overs) bt Silksworth 180-4 (45 overs) by 62 runs.

Division Six Evenwood II v Ushaw Moor

Evenwood Seconds 122 all out (40 overs, R Francis 36, M Gallagher 26; S Hancock 2-11, G Dawson 2-17, M Messer 2-19) lost to Ushaw Moor 122-2 (28 overs, L Cook 62no, J Clifford 38no) by 8 wickets.

Darlington & District Cricket League Division A Raby Castle v Witton-le-Wear

Raby need just five more points from their final game of the season to clinch the Division A title.

The leaders play Haughton, who trail Raby by 16 points and are the only team that can overtake them.

In their game at the weekend, Raby’s bowlers claimed the headlines in a 10-wicket win. James Forster took 7-13, Finlay Kirkup 2-6 and Dan Lee 1-6 as Witton were bowled out for 31. They had been 12-8 at one point! Joe Dent and Gareth Walton knocked off the target in less than six overs and the game was done and dusted by 3.30pm.

Witton 31 all out (18 overs) lost to Raby 35-0 (5.2 overs) by 10 wickets.

Cockerton v Aldbrough St John

Michael Fleming’s 77 formed the backbone of Aldbrough’s innings against Cockerton. His fellow opener Matthew Brown contributed 31 while Ryan Wake took 4-48 for the hosts. Brown then took 3-11 off 10 overs and Charlie Beadle claimed 5-14 from his 7.5 overs as Cockerton were bowled out for 89. Only opener David Black (31) reached double figures.

ASJ 193 (37.1 overs) all out bt Cockerton 89 all out (34.5 overs).

Spennymoor v Barningham

Kaden Miller hit 86 in a losing cause for Spenny against Barningham, for whom Mark Walker took 3-32. The visitors knocked off the runs inside 33 overs with Sam Quallis (51) scoring an unbeaten half century and Joe Blackburn finishing on 28 not out.

Spenny 180 all out (38.2 overs) lost to Barningham 181-4 (32.1 overs) by 5 wickets.

Division B Northallerton IV v Middleton-in-Teesdale

Anthony Coatsworth (61) and David Bradley (50) both scored half centuries as Middleton hammered Northallerton Fourths by 147 runs. None of the home side’s batters made double figures and the wickets were shared out among eight bowlers including Josh Andrews, who took 2-11 off his five overs.

Middleton 196-5 (40 overs) bt Northallerton 49 all out (24.3 overs) by 147 runs.

Shildon Railway II v Raby Castle II

Raby Seconds travelled to Shildon and the visitors’ youthful bowling attack bowled out the hosts for 103. Annabelle Tiplady led the way with 4-6 and there were two wickets each for Harry Davison (2-19) and Samuel Webb (2-21). An unbroken third wicket partnership between Robert Kirkup (30 not out) and Harry Davison (34no) sealed an eight wicket win.

Shildon Railway Seconds 103 all out (36.1 overs) lost to Raby Seconds 104 -2 (19.5 overs) by 8 wickets.

East Cowton v Etherley

Laan Sugathan and Tinu Geetha both recorded scores of 50 while Sarath Sunny added 46 as promoted Etherley scored 278 all out against East Cowton. Scott Ryan took 5-56 for the hosts, who were bowled out for just 75 with sunny taking 7-40 and Joshlin James 3-31.
