A BARNEY boxer fought his way to success on Sunday, clinching his second national title in just a year.
George Peacock, along with a large band of supporters, travelled to Bridlington to take part in the National Association of Boys and Girls Championship finals.
The 18-year-old, who won the 2023 National Youth ABA Championship title in February at 63.5kg, moved up two weight categories fighting in the 71kg category.
With a huge band of supporters cheering him on he beat Louis Kirwin from Southampton to take the 2023 NABGC title.
He said: “I won my first national title in February at 63.5kg, but decided to move up two weights and compete at 71kg coming out on top and winning for the second time.
“I would like to thank everyone at Barnard Castle Amateur Boxing Club, Craig Harrison, Richard Jackson and Nathan Forrest for doing my corner and for everything they do in the gym for me and everyone else who has supported me.
“I would also like to thank everyone who came to support me. What a turn out it was giving me that extra boost in the ring.
“Lastly, I’d like to thank all my sponsors for helping me out and allowing me to box at my best. The support is highly appreciated.”
Coaches Craig Harrison and Richard Jackson said: “Two-time national champion this year… that’s the best he’s boxed so far in these championships.
“It all came together today.”
