Charles cues up a third Ken Coates Trophy snooker win

THE finals of this season’s Ken Coates Winter Knock-out competition took place at the Teesdale Wanderers’ Snooker Club rooms, in Birch Road, earlier this month.

Charles Blake won the event for the third year running with a win of four frames to one against David Dye.

David played well, levelling the match at 1-1, but Charles took the next three frames to secure the trophy for another year.

Breaks of more than 20 were achieved by Colling Morris, Lawrence Wood and Charles Blake who also won the highest break prize with a break of 41.

The Flight was won by Lawrence Wood 3-1 against Jonathan Staley, while Neil Bailey won the plate with a 2-1 victory against Ian Rutherford.

This year saw a record entry of 15 players competing for a total prize fund of £205, with both junior and female members taking part.
