In the usual two group round robin format each player played five games with ten points up for grabs.

Coming in with eight points from group one Angus Dowson secured his place in the final while two players tied with nine points in group two.

Following a shots difference calculation Gillian Harle missed out with plus five while Peter Rimmington took his place in the final with plus 17.

Peter took the first end with a single then Angus took a full house three before Peter took the next end with a single. That meant Angus had a one shot lead going into the last end which he extended with one shot giving him the winner’s trophy with a 4-2 win.

Ladies section

AT the conclusion of the Darlington & District Afternoon League Barnard Castle came 5th in a middle section separated by only one point.

On finals day for the inter-club competitions we were well represented. In the Rink (Triples) final Mary Lambert, June Parkin and Gillian Harle persistently chased the strong Woodland trio, but had to be content with the runners-up trophy.

Mary and Gillian were unlucky to lose to Richmond in the last end of their Pairs final.
