TV favourites film for new show at The Bowes Museum

CAMERAS ROLL: Will Kirk

CAMERAS rolled as filming took place at The Bowes Museum for a new BBC daytime show that combines antiques and restoration.
Will Kirk, one of the stars of The Repair Shop, and auction expert Christina Trevanion – best known for her appearances on the Antiques Road Trip and Bargain Hunt – are joining forces in The Travelling Auctioneers.
Across 15 episodes, the pair take their auction house and workshop on the road across the UK, unearthing hidden gems and turning unwanted items into lots that could sell across the globe.
Sifting through one family home at a time, Will and Christina must identify items that will sell best at a bespoke auction.
Christina will call on her auctioneer contacts and expertise, while Will uses his craft and restoration skills to bring new life to neglected treasures, which then go under the hammer in an on-site auction.
Mr Kirk said: “I’m thrilled to be part of such an exciting new project. Hopefully between Christina and I, we can open up the worlds of restoration and auctions to a wider audience and show people some simple tips to get their prized possessions in pristine condition.”
Ms Trevanion added: “It’s really exciting to be a part of such an innovative new series and working alongside Will.
“Whether it’s a cellar, a barn, a loft, or the back of a cupboard, I’m really looking forward to uncovering the hidden treasures so many of us have in our homes, and giving them a new lease of life – while making the world of auctions and restoration accessible to as many people as possible.”
Director Ricardo Hawkes said The Bowes Museum was chosen as one of a number of venues across the country to host an auction.
“It’s an amazing space. The whole point is that the auctions feel fresh and are held outdoors where we can.
“We want people to get involved – everyone is welcome to the auction.”
