Man appears in court after spate of burglaries at shops in Barnard Castle

A man has been charged on suspicion of burglary after a spate of break-ins at shops in Barnard Castle.

Officers were called to properties in the town on Tuesday morning (May 15) following reports of criminal damage and burglary.

Leon Robinson, 29, of Hartlepool, appeared at Newton Aylciffe Magistrates’ Court yesterday (May 16).

He has been charged with 13 offences including three burglaries, one attempted burglary, criminal damage, assaulting a police officer and various motoring offences.

Robinson was remanded in custody. He will appear before Durham Crown Court on June 18.
