GETTING some exercise definitely put some colour in the cheeks of children at Middleton-in-Teesdale primary school.
Pupils from all classes were pelted with paint powder when they participated in the school’s first “colour run” .
Teacher Vicky Oliver said: “We had intended to have the colour run last year, but with Covid-19 it got delayed. It’s all about getting the children active again and having a bit of fun.”
Class bubbles, including teachers, ran the zig-zag course on the school field. Teams of volunteers – made up of parents and friends of the school armed with paint pots – helped the children move that bit faster, as they covered them with blue, green pink and orange paint. Ms Oliver added: “It’s the first time we have been able to welcome the Friends of the School back onto the grounds since the start of the pandemic.”
Paul Donaghy, from Sedgefield-based company Go Well that organised the event, said: “It’s nice after the hassle of the last year to see some smiles back on the faces of children again.”
