“Our council, honorary secretary and members value his passion and promotion of our rare breed.”

The society aims to promote and encourage breeding of high-class Dales Ponies, maintaining the native pony breed. With Dales Ponies still classed as a priority breed for conservation purposes and Ms James said the society greatly values the king’s support to preserve the breed for future generations.

King Charles met Dales Ponies and members during the society’s centenary year celebrations in 2016.
