AS many as 13 real ales and four ciders will be on tap for this year’s Scarth Beer and Music Festival.
Along with the artisan beers, revellers can also enjoy a variety of music presented by ten different artists and groups when the event gets underway on Friday, September 27, and Sunday, September 28.
Organisers have teamed up with Three Brothers Brewing Company this year to streamline the bar provision.
Les Blair, from the hall, said: “Every year so far we have put up our own bar but this year we are doing it in conjunction with Three Brothers.
“It takes ages to set up [the bar] and then we have to hire the coolers. They do it all for us – they source the beers and they are sourcing them from all over. There’s everything from dark beers to crafted lager. I think there is something for everyone.”
Several of Three Brothers’ ales will be on sale during the festival including Hopical Storm, Glacier and S’more Porter, as well as ales from other brewers such as Oat to Joy from Half Moon Brewery and Lost in Ikea from Nightjar Brew Co. Wensleydale Brewery’s Gamekeeper and Henry Smith Brewery’s bitter will also be available.
Unconfirmed so far is Anarchy Brew Co’s Psychotic Warlord, a 6.9 per cent red IPA packed with citra hops.
Mr Blair added: “We will also have our bar with our normal suppliers Mithril Ales and all the shorts.”
The Mithril Ales beers on sale include Festiv’Ale, which is brewed specifically for the Scarth Hall, and House of the Rising Sun, which marks the start of the Rugby World Cup in Japan.
Ciders ordered for the festival include a rhubarb by Snail’s Bank, a dry cider by Tees Cider, a ginger cider by Thistly Cross and Rosies Pig, a crisp apple cider with a fruity finish, by Westons.
Festivities get underway at 7pm on the Friday when the headline act is Americana, blues and rock performers Somebody’s Cat, supported by CoJo and John Rouse.
Saturday’s events start at 4pm when The Fabs will be the main performers.
Mike Wylie, from the hall, said: “We have had them twice before – they go down well and everyone is up dancing.”
Also performing on the Night Crossing, Total Identity, Kitchy Retro, D’Ukes of Scarth, Phil Cox and Steve Ray. Tickets cost £10 each night or £15 for both nights.
Food will also be on sale at the hall’s bistro during the festival.
