WHAT better way to spend Hallowe’en than in Hamsterley on the edge of fog-shrouded moorland watching a new adaptation of a classic story.
Northern Stage present their version of The Hound of the Baskervilles on Thursday, October 31, in the village hall, with curtain up at 7.30pm.
Holmes and Watson are on the case as they investigate the grim legend of the Baskerville family curse.
Charles Baskerville is dead and a terrifying beast is rumoured to stalk the moors around the remote Baskerville mansion.
When Sherlock Holmes sends Doctor Watson to investigate, Watson finds himself surrounded by dense fog and a community steeped in folklore, legend and rumour, where the line between reality and myth is no longer clear.

Originally published in 1902, The Hound of the Baskervilles is one of four crime novels from the pen of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to feature the famous detective Sherlock Holmes.
This gothic classic has been adapted by writer Douglas Maxwell, directed by Jake Smith and is performed by a four-strong cast.
Tickets for the show are £8 adults, £5 students and £24 for families.
The production visits Hamsterley as part of the Highlights Rural Touring Scheme’s autumn programme.
