Karate club set up for over 50s

DOJO WELCOME: Tony and Julie Baker have set up a new club

Tony and Julie Ann Baker have set up an over 50s karate club, based at Glaxo Sports and Social Club.

The class meets every Thursday 7pm to 8pm and aimed at all levels.

Tony said: “We have run clubs for many years, but we moved to the area four years ago and realised there was no club specifically for over 50s here.

“We believe there’s a lot of people out there who would love to get involved but we know that sometimes people can be put off and that’s why we feel having it for the over 50s is a great idea.

“The club will focus on all aspects, from fitness to karate skills. It’s not only a great way to be active, learn a new sport or improve current skills, but it’s also a great way to meet new people.”

Tony added: “The club is open to all abilities and we welcome anyone who wants to get involved.”
