Football round-up
AS the Mercury went to press, the Durham County FA was due to give an update on grassroots football following the government’s announcement once officials have received more information from the FA.

Crook and District League
EVENWOOD Town and Glaxo Rangers played out an entertaining 3-3 draw in difficult conditions on Saturday afternoon.
On target for the home side were Will Preston, Ashley Murphy and Liam Blighe, while replying for Glaxo were Sam Hicks, Jamie McDougall and Jack Walker.
The draw earned Glaxo their first point of the season, which was enough to lift them off the bottom of the first division table, while for Evenwood it was their third stalemate in a row.

Wear Valley Sunday League
AN Alan Haycock hat-trick helped Gainford Cross Keys to an excellent away win at North Bitchburn Red Lion on Sunday morning.
Shane Walker added a fourth as Gainford ran out 4-3 winners.
Toft Hill Three Tuns bowed out of the Heart Foundation Cup after suffering a 4-2 home defeat at the hands of Murton Colliery.
Simon Rathbone and Chris Murphy were on target for Toft Hill.
Other results
Division 2: BA Sports 3, Spennymoor Ash Tree 2; Leeholme 2, Black Horse 3.
Heart Foundation Cup: Shildon Inst 3, Waldridge Park 3 (Shildon won 4-3 on penalties); Witton Gilbert 3, Bay Horse Blues 2; Witton Park 3, Gateshead Leam Lane 1; Hilda Park 5, Roundhouse 2.

Darlington Sunday Morning Invitation League
MIDDLETON Wanderers were involved in another cracking game.
Unfortunately, on this occasion they came out on the wrong side of a 3-2 defeat at the hands of fellow mid-tablers Young Bulls and the upper dale team remains one of three teams to have won one of their league games so far this season.
Staindrop, who have won both of the league games they have played so far, had no game on Sunday.

Ebac Northern League
WEST Auckland Town’s game against Thornaby FC on Saturday was postponed due to a number of positive Covid tests among the opponents’ players and management.
Unless advised otherwise, West were due back in action before the second lockdown with an away trip to Newcastle Benfield (kick off 7.30pm).
