Halloween fun runners raise £500 for Great North Air Ambulance Service

ON THEIR MARKS: Halloween run organiser Tim "Doctor Death" Smith with some of the ghouls that took part in the run event at Woodland

SCORES of ghouls, ghosts and other monsters turned out at Woodland Village Hall on Sunday for a spooky Halloween fun run and walk.
The event, which followed the route of the Woodland Triangle, raised almost £500 for the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
About 55 people, many of them in costumes, turned out for the fun day, despite it being overcast and windy.
Organiser Tim Smith said: “It is not bad considering a lot of people had not put their clocks back. We had a group of ladies called Run and Race and they all dressed up and loved it. They said how wonderful it was to finish the race with a cup of coffee and to have a bit of a social.
“One that surprised everyone was the Ogre, who was Paul the Postman who everyone knows.”
Mr Smith thanked all the volunteers who made the day possible.
He added: “Many thanks to Janet G, Janet, Karen, Lucinda, Louise, Lucy, Celia, Lesley, Simon, Becky, Hope and Carl for being a big part of the catering and marshalling of our event.
“It went like clockwork.”
Medals were sponsored by Healing Cauldron and A&B Boilers
On Friday, the village hall also hosted a free Halloween party on Friday evening which attracted about 55 children. The event included a full spread of food along with a DJ.
Mr Smith said: “They laughed and played games all night. It was absolutely wonderful.”
The event was sponsored by the Woodland Community Fund.
