Motorcyclist died in three-vehicle collision

A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a three-vehicle accident on the outskirts of Barnard Castle last week, it was confirmed this afternoon.

Police were called to the collision in Dent Gate Lane just before 6pm on November 11.

The incident involved two cars and a motorbike.

Police said the motorbike rider, Shane Gaskin, was taken to hospital with serious injuries but sadly passed away the following day.

A spokeswoman said Shane’s family wanted to thank air ambulance staff, emergency services and the staff at James Cook hospital who all tried their best to save him.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
