THE success of a bake-off competition at a dale primary school was so popular pupils voted to repeat the event this year, raising £241.29 for charity.
Pupils at Ingleton Primary were keen to show off their baking skills again this year and combined their harvest festival celebrations with a fundraising coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The children, with help from their parents and grandparents, baked their entries and brought them into school to be judged by the school’s catering team, who had a difficult job deciding on the winners.
However in class one they chose the rabbit head cake made by Grace as the winner. In class two a cake topped with meringues baked by Emily came out on top and in class three Ronnie’s sumptuous raspberry topped cake earned him the top prize.
Each year group had winners who received baking-themed prizes of aprons and measuring cups as well as a cupcake shaped eraser.
After the judging, all the children attended a harvest festival service at the village church and then parents and the community were invited back to the school for teas and coffees and a slice or three.
