FIRE crews spent about an hour extinguishing a house fire in Barnard Castle today.
The fire in Baliol Street was reported at 8.45am.
A spokesperson for County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said: “One fire engine from Barnard Castle and one fire engine from Bishop Auckland attended the incident.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus (BA) used one hose reel to put out the fire which was located in the kitchen on the ground floor.
“Crews left the scene at 9.54am.”
