Appeal launched to keep treasured tree shining bright

An appeal has been launched to help raise funds to rewrap the lights on Middleton-in-Teesdale’s much-loved Remembrance Tree.

The beautiful tree, situated in the Remembrance Garden behind the village war memorial, has become a much-loved part of Middleton-in-Teesdale’s Christmas light display.

But its significance extends beyond Christmas, as it is also illuminated each November as part of the village’s Remembrance commemorations.

For the health and wellbeing of the tree, the existing lights now need to be carefully removed from its branches and trunk and re-wrapped.

This is a substantial job and comes with a significant cost, prompting the appeal for donations from local residents and supporters.

The organisers of Middleton-in-Teesdale Christmas Lights are asking the community to help ensure that this special tree can continue to shine for many years to come.

Every donation, however small, will make a difference.

Donations can also be left at Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services (UTASS) in Middleton-in-Teesdale.

The Remembrance Tree is a much-loved part of the village’s festive celebrations, while also providing a poignant focal point for the community’s annual Remembrance commemorations.
