Ellie-May raises £800 for medics who saved mum’s arm

FUNDRAISING EFFORT: Ellie-May Elliott

A TEN-YEAR-OLD girl has raised more than £800 for the air ambulance service, which saved her mum’s arm after a workplace accident.
Ellie-May Elliott, from Cockfield, raised an impressive £840 by competing in a Bubble Rush event, in Newcastle, in support of her mum, Amy Howe, who had previously been airlifted to hospital after becoming entangled in a rotating machine at work.
The youngster was joined in the run by her aunt Kayleigh Howe. Ellie-May dashed through the five-kilometre course and ended up coming seventh out of 650 runners.
Her mum said: “Ellie-May said it was a great experience and achievement doing the run. She loved every minute of it.
“She especially likes running through the different coloured foams at different parts of the run and she was really happy with the amount of money they raised for the air ambulance.”
Ellie-May and her aunt visited the Great North Air Ambulance Service to hand over the cash.
Ms Howe said: “The ambulance is really important as if they didn’t get to my work when they did, and get me to the hospital when they did, I would have lost my arm.
“I am very proud of Ellie-May and Kayleigh for what they did and achieved in
the run, and what they did for the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
Ellie-May is now planning to carry out more fundraising or the service.
