Breaking news: Whorlton Hall shuts

A ll patients have been moved out of Whorlton Hall.

WHORLTON Hall has been closed ahead of a BBC Panorama programme tonight, which investigates allegations of physical and psychological abuse.

Police are currently conducting a criminal investigation into the allegations.

Cygnet Health, which took over management of the facility from Danshell Group late last year, says it is “shocked and deeply saddened” by the allegations.

A spokesperson said: “We take these allegations extremely seriously. We have suspended all the members of staff involved, simultaneously informed all relevant authorities, including the police, who have now instigated an inquiry and we are cooperating fully with their investigation.

“We have taken the initiative of transferring all the patients to other hospitals. The safety and care of our patients and residents is of paramount importance and we have zero tolerance of unprofessional conduct towards them.”
