POOCHES of all shapes, sizes and colours, crowded onto Cotherstone village green, along with their proud owners, to take part in the fun weekend’s dog show.
Organiser Amanda Sharp said she was delighted with the support and “overwhelmed” at the number of entrants for the show.
She said: “I really wasn’t expecting that many dogs to enter. It was so well attended with spectators and competitors.”
With 50 entries to the show, judge Josephine Lee, from Middleton-in-Teesdale, had her work cut out for her during the morning.
There were nine fun classes with prizes for each winner. The loveliest lady category was won by Annie with her owner Judy. Annie was also deemed the dog the judge would most like to take home with her.
The gorgeous golden oldie for dogs seven years and over rosette was won by Ollie with owner Alex.
Heidi with pooch Pink was deemed to be the owner who looks most like their dog and Isle with owner Trish was judged to be the best paw shaker.
Youngster Thomas with his dog Winston won the best junior handler award. Brennah, owned by Wendy, from Romaldkirk, had the waggiest tail and the best six legs in the show went to Tilly with owner Gordon.
Boxer Milo, on holiday at Doe Park with his owner Andrew, picked up the most fabulous fella prize before going on to win the coveted best in show title.
The reserve title went to Brennah.
Ms Sharp added: “We just want to thank everyone for taking part and to Barnard Castle Pets and Meynells for their generous donation of prizes and dog treats.”
