Autumn comes to Art in the Garden session

PEACE AND QUIET: Artist Holly Scott with Sue and Phil Johnson at the latest Art in the Garden session at The Hub

BUDDING artists spent a tranquil two hours capturing the changing colours of autumn.

They were inspired by the season at the latest session of Art in the Garden at Veg Out in Barney – a project based at The Hub.

The Art in Garden sessions, which are provided for free, are run by artist Holly Scott.

Ms Scott said the sessions were popular during the summer months and guests have enjoyed a range of artistic endeavours including silk paper making and sketching.

However, water-colour painting has proved to be the most popular with visitors, she said.

Ms Scott added: “Watercolour is just perfect for this time of year with everything starting to change colour. We don’t do a show and tell at the end of the session. It’s about having fun.”

As well as enjoying tea and homemade cake on arrival, people taking part are encouraged to let themselves relax into the painting.

Budding artist Phil Johnson accompanied his wife, Sue, to the latest session. He described it at the best two hours of peace and quiet he has all week.

Ms Scott added: “We’ve had wonderful turnouts during the summer months. But now the weather is a little less predictable, it’s hard to accommodate larger groups if it rains.”

The two-hour sessions take place each Thursday at the Hub from 10am. Anyone interested in attending should contact Holly Scott via Veg Out in Barney’s Facebook page for availability.
