BOWES BOUND: The Teresa Watson Band will play at Bowes and Gilmonby Village Hall on Saturday

AN acclaimed Tyneside band will be bringing the blues back to Bowes this month.

The Newcastle-based Teresa Watson Band will head to Bowes and Gilmonby Village Hall on Saturday, May 19.

With a five-piece line-up, Teresa’s powerful vocal style is complemented by keyboard player Paul Donaldson, John Whitehill on guitar, John ‘The Captain’ Morgan on bass and Barry Race on drums.

Formed in 2015, playing a mix of blues on the soulful side, and featuring influences such as Etta James, Koko Taylor and Bonnie Raitt, they are established favourites in and around the North East.

They will need little introduction to many, having excelled at the Americana Festival, hosted by the Sage Gateshead, for the last two years.

Dates this summer will also include the Lindisfarne festival at the end of August.

For the Bowes show, the doors and bar open at 7pm and the performance starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets on the door are £10, £9 concessions and £5 for students £5.

Bowes and Gilmondby Hall promoter Graham Henley said: “It’s great to have Teresa and the band play here in Bowes.

“I was talking to the Corner Boys about them and they were singing the band’s praises – I can’t think of a better recommendation.”

He added: “It’s fantastic to have them playing here, normally you’d have to make a bit of a trek to catch them.”
