Live music hits right note on Demesnes

ON SONG: Andy Yeadon

“IT’s good to see live music back on the lower Demesnes,” said music promoter Dave Palmer.

It was a sentiment echoed by many as a host of artists entertained large crowds on both days of the Meet.

The Hub’s studio manager Tom Whittaker ensured the sound was at its best for the nine acts who performed over the two days.

Acoustic duos kicked off the entertainment on both afternoons with the Meet one of eight gigs booked in for the jubilee weekend by the Audios on Friday.

Saturday’s music programme began with a performance by the Little Bigs Acoustic Duo, featuring Barney’s Rebecca Hosey, who has just completed her music degree at Durham.

They were followed on stage by another local group, About the Humans, featuring Andy Yeadon.

The band showcased tracks from their forthcoming album, which is currently being recorded.

The Waynes, another popular local band, formed part of the line-up which also featured Vic Bainbridge and Red Room.

In between acts on the main stage, an open mic was available for anyone who wanted to play a tune, run by noted blues musician and chairman of Bishop FM, Gary Grainger.
