Borders chamber choir to sing at St Romald’s

ON SONG: Andante

ANDANTE chamber choir, a 32 voice a-cappella group from the Scottish Borders, is to perform at St Romald’s Church, Romaldkirk, on Saturday (April 28).

Formed by John Stone, the retired head of drama from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, it is based near Coldstream and performs music ranging from plainsong and polyphony to pop.

In its first ten years it has performed some 120 concerts and raised in excess £23,000 for both local and national charities.

Choir members – full members, guest singers and apprentices – hail from Berwickshire and the wider Scottish Borders as well as Berwick-upon-Tweed and north Northumberland.

The choir has given world premieres of commissions by Grayston Ives, Michael Nyman, Goldie and Sean Doherty and performed in many local churches and village halls.

Mr Stone said the group was looking forward to performing at Romaldkirk – and to hearing feedback from those who attend.

The performance starts at 7.30pm. No tickets are required. However donations towards St Romald’s Church at the door would be welcome.
