Alistair promises unique mix of classic comedy and classical music

COMEDY AND CLASSICS: Alistair McGowan returns to Barnard Castle on April 1

TOP TV impressionist Alistair McGowan returns to Barnard Castle with his unique combination of classical piano and trademark humour.
The unusual mix comes courtesy of Funny Way To Be Comedy on Friday, April 1, at The Witham.
However, it was no April fool joke when it was announced that arguably the UK’s most recognisable impersonator is to be playing classical music on The Witham’s piano for part of the show.
Following the surprise success of his Sony album, which reached No 1 in the UK Classical Album charts, he came up with a new show, combining his talents as master impressionist and comedian with his new-found talent as a classical pianist!
He will perform classical gems by Glass, Chopin, Gershwin, Grieg, Debussy, Tiersen and Satie.
Promoter Peter Dixon said the audience could expect a lot of beautiful music, and more than a sprinkling of his trademark impressions.
“Alistair performed for us exactly three years ago on the first ever tour where he mixed classical piano with his comedy.
“It was a huge success. The sold-out audience loved the evening.
“This show is a brand new one, with different music and different jokes. We are very excited that he has agreed to return to us on this latest tour.”
Tickets for the show, priced £22, are available now from funnywaytobe.com or The Witham box office on 01833 631107.
