Sole sisters are stepping out

RUNNING CLUB: Personal trainer Emma Campbell-Critchley with some of the members of Sole Sisters group

Barnard Castle has become the home of the Sole Sisters Running Club which was started three months ago by Emma Campbell-Critchley, as she looks to encourage members of the community to get involved in the sport whilst being in a social environment.

The women’s only group meets once a week for a leisurely jog around various parts of the town, as well as stopping for a variety of different exercises on the way.

Emma said: “We are here to exercise but it’s more of a social club, the focus is on connecting with people and it’s a great way for women to come together.”

“We aren’t an athletics club, it isn’t about breaking records: it’s more about us all getting some exercise as well as meeting new people.”

“We’ll do a warmup, then we’ll jog for a minute, then we might do a short walk before we head to an area where I’ll set up an assortment of exercises for them.”

Emma is a personal trainer by trade but only moved to the area four months ago.

“I had organised clubs like this before, but when I came here there was nothing that was similar, so I decided to go ahead with it.

“We normally get about 15 people out with us, so it’s well supported at the minute, and we hope for this to build in the future.”

For more information about the club and how to become a part of it, call Emma on 07787 992675, or visit facebook.com/solesistersrungroup.
