David pots his way to Wanderers’ Winter Trophy success

CUEING UP: The six finalists in The Wanderers' Winter Tournament

Snooker
THE Wanderers Snooker Club, in Barnard Castle, staged the finals of the Winter Tournament on Sunday, February 20.
Last year’s competitions didn’t take place due to Covid restrictions, so a record field of 18 is evidence that players were keen to be competing once more.
It was especially pleasing to see new members supporting the club and taking part in this competition.
Experienced players David Dye and Luke Stephenson battled it out for the Ken Coates Trophy, with David winning the match 3-1.
The match between Josh Normanton and Adam Staley, to decide the Plate, was a thriller which was won by Josh following two very close black ball frames.
Mark Jones, taking part in his first Wanderers Club competition, despite playing well in the flight, was narrowly beaten by Peter Normanton.
The highest break prize was won by David Dye with a break of 29. Not far behind was Keith Roberts with a break of 28.
