A FOUR-minute trailer for Oscar winning director Sam Mendes’ war epic, 1917, has been released and it features scenes shot during the summer in Teesdale.
The blockbuster, which is scheduled for release in January, tells the story of two British soldiers in the Great War during a single day at the height of the conflict.
About 200 members of the film and stunt crew spent four days filming at Low Force, in upper Teesdale, in June for sequences “following characters moving down river” .
Drones were used and there were stunts, special effects and smoke.
Sam Mendes, who oversaw the James Bond film Skyfall, is directing the film, which features actors Benedict Cumberbatch, Richard Madden and George MacKay.
The trailer features Mr Mendes and director of photography Roger Deakins as well as raw footage of the film.
