Teesdale Operatic Society sings for joy… and victory
Members of Teesdale Operatic Society celebrated success at an awards evening on October 3.
At the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) awards held in the Grand Hotel in Gosforth, Teesdale Operatic Society received the award for best concert in their region for their Circle of Life cabaret, which toured Teesdale earlier this year.
Junior members Phoebe Robinson and Chloe Hanks were both recognised for stand-out performances with neighbouring societies.
Phoebe Robinson won best youth individual in a drama for her portrayal of Catherine in If Only with Bishop Auckland Theatre Society.
Chloe Hanks won the vocal star award for her role as Madame de la Grande Bouche in HC Vocal and Performing Academy’s production of Beauty & the Beast.
Meanwhile, Teesdale Operatic Society are hard at work preparing for their next production, Sing for Victory, coming to The Witham on Wednesday, and Thursday, November 18 and 19.
Set against the backdrop of the Second World War, this heart-warming musical explores the strength and spirit of a close-knit community navigating uncertainty and fear.
As air raids disrupt daily life, residents gather in village halls and bomb shelters, uniting through timeless classics such as We’ll Meet Again and Pack Up Your Troubles.
Through moments of loss, laughter, and quiet courage, the show highlights the resilience and enduring power of community during dark times.
Tickets are £17 from The Witham box office.
