Storm Eunice brings snow to Teesdale

Drivers told to take care on the road in slippy conditions. A gritter off the road in Boldron Lane.

Storm Eunice brought snow to Teesdale during the night and early morning and although some areas have only had a covering, drivers are advised to take care.

Durham County Council is operating a continuous gritting programme in light of the “extreme winter weather conditions” to keep the priority network clear, but the roads are still slippy and there have been several reports of several vehicles running off the road.

The A66 is still closed to all vehicles from Scotch Corner to Penrith.

A yellow warning is still in place across the region with the Met Office forecasting more snowfall during Friday afternoon.

In light of the weather warnings Bowes Hutchinson Primary School and Cotherstone Primary School remained closed and will reopen after the half term holiday on Monday, February 28.
