COTHERSTONE bell-ringers, for the first time in more than 20 years, rung the quarter peel at St Cuthbert’s Church recently. Full peels, which last about three hours, and quarter peels which last about 50 minutes have been rung in the past, but by visiting ringers.
It was an exciting time (lasting 43 minutes) for Cotherstone ringers, especially Richard Sparrow, who has only been ringing about two years, as it was his first quarter peel.
