Jimmy Nail to appear in Barnard Castle

Jimmy Nail

Acclaimed actor, singer and writer Jimmy Nail will tour the UK in 2026 with Stories and Songs, an intimate new live show reflecting on an extraordinary career that has spanned more than seven decades.

One of the North East’s most celebrated cultural figures, Nail has left an indelible mark on British popular culture.

From his breakthrough role in the landmark television series Auf Wiedersehen, Pet to hard-hitting drama Spender, and global success with Crocodile Shoes, his career has moved effortlessly between television, music, film and theatre.

The Crocodile Shoes phenomenon alone produced multi-platinum albums and a run of hit singles, including the 1992 UK number one Ain’t No Doubt.

Beyond music, Nail’s screen and stage credits include major film roles in Evita and Still Crazy, as well as leading performances on both Broadway and London’s West End.

Following a recent run of sell-out shows in Newcastle celebrating the songs of Crocodile Shoes, Nail now returns with something more personal.

Stories and Songs is described as a warm, witty and revealing evening that blends live music with candid memories and rarely seen images from his life and career

Audiences can expect honest anecdotes, moments of reflection and a carefully chosen selection of songs drawn from across Nail’s catalogue including, Ain’t No Doubt and Love Don’t Live Here Anymore to Crocodile Shoes, Cowboy Dreams, Big River and music written for film and stage.

Joining Nail on stage will be long-time collaborator Tony Davis, whose keyboards and accordion will add texture and atmosphere to the stripped-back performances.

He will be appearing at The Witham on Friday, July 10 and tickets go on sale tomorrow, Friday January 23, at 10am.
