It was off, but Middleton Carnival parade is BACK ON

It's on!

MIDDLETON-in-Teesdale’s popular carnival parade WILL now take place on Saturday.

Earlier today, organisers announced the cancellation of the parade and all activities on the sports field due to health and safety fears as a result of Wednesday’s deluge and a poor weather forecast for Saturday.

But after what one committee member described as residents “up in arms” – and with a road closure in place – the parade will now go ahead as planned.

There will be no activities on the sports field, but a family afternoon will be held in the sports and social club, including the raffle and tombola.

Judging of floats and fancy dress will take place at noon on Saturday, with the parade setting off at 12.45pm on Saturday.
