Girls’ sponsored river swim raises cash for NHS

GREAT EFFORT: Libby and Kitty's wild swim raised cash for NHS

TWO youngsters from Cotherstone, who discovered a love for wild swimming during lockdown have raised more than £300 for the NHS.
Best friends Libby Forsyth and Kitty Goldsborough, both ten, have been keeping fit by taking a dip in the River Tees.
The girls enjoyed wild swimming so much they devised a way to raise cash for the NHS while see how many widths of the river they could complete in one hour.
After posting posters around the village, they went door to door, socially distancing with residents, to pull in the donations and even set up a Justgiving page.
With family members keeping a safe eye on proceedings, they took to the water. While Libby opted to do the swim in her costume, Kitty chose to don a wetsuit.
Libby said: “It was really good fun and I like wild swimming. We were able to get quite a rhythm going and managed to do 60 widths in the hour.
Kitty added: “We’ve got family who work in the NHS and it just seemed right to try to raise money for them.”
In total the girls gathered £319. If anyone wants to make a donation to their campaign, visit justgiving.com/fundraising/libbyandkitty
