Eggleston bridge closed after latest damage

Damaged: Eggleston bridge

EGGLESTON bridge across the Tees is expected to be closed for ten days after damage caused by a HGV on Monday morning.

Residents in the area heard a collision at about 9am and reported the damage to highways officials at Durham County Council.

A temporary road closure order was issued today, closing the bridge and diverting traffic along the B6282 and B6277 via Middleton-in-Teesdale.

The closure notice is valid for three weeks, but officials say they anticipate the bridge repairs to be completed in ten days.
