Barnard Castle’s talented artists are taking centre stage at The Witham this month with the latest exhibition from Barnard Castle and Teesdale Art Society.
The display opened on Wednesday, and secretary Alan Coustick told the Mercury: “It’s an opportunity for the art society to showcase who we are and what we do.
“We offer some of our artwork for sale, and we also hope that it may promote interest in the society and draw in new members.”
The group meets on Monday afternoons throughout the year, with tutored sessions once a month. During school terms, meetings are at the Guide HQ in
Barnard Castle; in July and August the society goes plein air with outdoor sketching and painting at various locations.
Each exhibition incorporates a theme or challenge.
This time, the artists wanted to include at least one piece portraying somewhere in Barnard Castle.
The latest exhibition runs until May 30, and is free to visit during The Witham’s usual opening hours.
