STAINDROP’S Scouts are celebrating more success with youngsters earning prestigious awards.
Six Explorer Scouts have earned their silver Duke of Edinburgh Award, alongside Chief Scout’s Diamond awards. The Explorers have completed a number of tasks including working on skills, volunteering, physical fitness and an expedition.
They have learnt rugby, motocross, beagling, and how to work as leaders with younger sections of the Scout movement.
Their expeditions took them across Weardale and Teesdale with an assessed
expedition in Northumberland.
Andy Carr, District Explorer Scout Commissioner, said: “We are all very proud of their achievements – they have shown teamwork, determination and strength to overcome obstacles all while displaying a great sense of humour.
“They are a true example of what an Explorer Scout should be and they are role models for younger members of the movement.”
They were presnted with certificates and badges presented to them by David Stokes, Durham County Commissioner, and John Moore, District Commissioner for Teesdale.
All six are now signed up for their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award while also completing their Queen’s Scout Awards.
