£1,500 makeover brings free wi-fi to St Mary’s Parish Hall, Barnard Castle

CONNECTED: Revd Canon Alec Harding tries out St Mary's Parish Hall's new wi-fi connection along with volunteers Iris Hillery and Allan Jones

A DALE parish hall has enjoyed a makeover, making it more comfortable for the groups that use it.

About £1,500 was spent to give St Mary’s Parish Hall, in Barnard Castle, a spruce up.

Vicar Revd Canon Alec Harding said: “In addition we are connected to the internet all for the same modest fee.”

The hall, which is next to church, is used most days hosting pilates, Scottish dancing, an under-5s group, the town’s Richard III group and, occasionally, drama group The Castle Players.

It is hoped that the addition of free wi-fi internet connection will encourage more groups to use the facility.
