Branded farmers’ market bags a hit with shoppers

POPULAR: Graham Parker with the branded shopping bags he designed for Barnard Castle Farmers' Market

REUSABLE Barnard Castle Farmers’ Market branded shopping bags are proving popular with customers to the monthly event.
The bags were designed by Graham Parker, who combined the Buttermarket with ideas from a drawing competition run by Alice Redfearn at TCR Hub.
The bags were a departure from Mr Parker’s usual subjects – he normally takes his inspiration from the abundance of farm and wild animals near his dale home.
He works from a studio at Ushaw College alongside two other artist friends, and has exhibited at Ushaw, Brancepeth Castle and Durham City and a selection of his work was in Cafe Cheesedale. His latest project is to produce a set of pastel drawings from some original tree sculpture by artist Tommy Craggs, which can be found in the grounds of Ushaw College.
The bags will be on sale at the next farmers’ market on Saturday, July 3.
