Lauren launches kids’ clothes at Barnard Castle toy shop

WORKING TOGETHER: Lauren Franklin has opened up Kiddywinkles Childrenswear inside Connelly's Toyshop

A WELL-known Barnard Castle toyshop has extended its offering after teaming up with a children’s clothing boutique.

Kiddywinkles Childrenswear has opened up inside Connelly’s Toyshop, on The Bank, in the town.

The new boutique has been launched by Lauren Franklin, 28, who is looking forward to her new venture.

Ms Franklin, who lives in Evenwood, worked as a sales assistant in Poppy’s Children’s Boutique, on The Bank, in Barnard Castle, for two years until it moved online in August.

When she was left out of work, Ms Franklin wanted to be able to do something that she could fit around her two daughters, Patience and Thea.

She said: “There is nothing else like it in the town now. I saw there was an opportunity for me to do this and so I asked my mum, Melody, and Pauline here at the toyshop.

“The clothes are good quality and not expensive.”

The shop will stock designer brands such as Mayoral, Sarah Louise and Pretty Originals for boys and girls from newborn up to nine years old. Ms Franklin is also planning to be the first UK stockist of Maison Marasil clothing.

Pauline Connelly, owner of the toyshop, said: “I think having the clothing in here is ideal.

“Hopefully one will complement the other. There is a need for it in the town and it is something different.

“You never know where it might lead if it takes off.”

A loyalty scheme is also available. Customers will receive one stamp for every £25 spent in store. Six stamps can be exchanged for £10 off any purchase.

The shop is open Monday to Saturday, excluding Thursdays, from 9.30am till 4.30pm.

For more details call the toyshop on 01833 637396, Ms Franklin on 07852 333546 or visit the Facebook page.
