NEW live action theme park Kyren – The Storied Lands, in Bishop Auckland, has announced the acquisition of the renowned Flambards Victorian Village.

The heritage exhibit was at risk of being broken up and sold in individual lots following the Cornwall theme park’s recent closure. It is expected to be opened at Kynren – The Storied Lands next year.

Originally developed in the 1970s the Victorian village features 40 sets and scenes with authentic 19th century shopfronts and interiors, including a haberdashery, pawn brokers, apothecary, blacksmith, grocers, tobacconist, jewellers, milliner, toy shop, and a Victorian schoolroom and inn.

It also showcases meticulously restored household settings, such as a period kitchen, nursery, and living quarters, capturing the daily life of the era with thousands of genuine artefacts.

Kynren chief executive Anna Warnecke said: “The detail and authenticity of the Flambards Victorian Village make it an incredible foundation for a truly immersive experience at The Storied Lands.

“We are not simply relocating it; we are transforming it into a vibrant, theatrical journey where visitors will feel as if they have stepped back into the heart of Victorian England.  We cannot wait to unveil this spectacular experience as part of our new park.”

Opening in 2026, Kynren – The Storied Lands will be the UK’s first live-action historical theme park, where visitors journey through time via spectacular performances, breathtaking stunts, and rich storytelling.

Phase one of the day-time park will feature a series of large-scale theatrical productions set within stunning themed environments.

It includes a Viking show, a retelling of the Lambton Worm myth, a show that explores the connection between birds and humanity and a medieval spectacle.
