More big name comedians unveil Edinburgh Festival shows in Barney

LAUGHTER TIME: Brennan Reece is in the line-up at The Witham on Saturday

A SECOND Saturday of stand-up will see four top comedians try out their new Edinburgh Festival shows for fans in Barnard Castle.
The final Edinburgh Preview Day, organised by Funny Way To Be comedy, will be held on July 30 at The Witham, with a line-up featuring Tom Stade, Connor Burns, Lauren Pattinson and Brennan Reece.
The evening starts at 5pm with Tom Stade, a Canadian who is now based in Edinburgh.
With his new show, Take The High Road, he is willing to tackle a huge range of topics, from the obscure to the familiar, from a simple gag to quirky, inventive, rambling anecdotes with unexpected punchlines.
At 6.30pm, Live, Laugh, Loathe is presented by Connor Burns, one of the fastest rising Scottish stars.
Funny Way To Be favourite Lauren Pattinson takes to the stage at 8pm.
She is an Edinburgh Comedy Award best newcomer nominee but remains reluctant to say what her new show is about because if the last year has taught her anything, it’s life can change fast.
The evening’s final hour, from 9.30pm, is with Brennan Reece as he completes his work in progress dates for Crowded, which will tour in the autumn and has already sold several venues.
His new show is described as a hilariously heart-breaking look at how the world can get you down, and the reasons you find to pick yourself back up again.
Promoter Peter Dixon said: “With the controversy of the rapidly rising cost of attending the Edinburgh Festival Fringe continuing at a pace, we try to provide a flavour of it for the fraction of the cost.
“We have held, and even reduced, our preview show ticket prices over the years. We feel it’s important to give people a chance to see live entertainment at an affordable sum.
“Despite this, all these acts are headliners in their own right and will be among the most sought-after tickets in Edinburgh.”
Tickets for each show are £6, while a pass for all four is £20 available from The Witham box office or from Funny Way To Be comedy at www.funnywaytobe.com.
