GROUP SHOW: Members of Interface Arts launch their Winter Exhibition at The Witham

A COUNTY Durham art network has put together a month-long exhibition at The Witham, Barnard Castle, to provide inspiration for the coming festive season.

Interface Arts is a group of artists in County Durham and the surrounding area, who meet regularly to organise exhibitions, workshops and social events.

The group, which was set up in 2006, offers support and opportunities to members to promote public participation in art and has exhibited at various venues including Durham Cathedral, Locomotion and Washington Arts Centre.

Their Winter Art Exhibition, which has been a year in the making, opened last week and runs until November 25.

Exhibiting artists include Gail Bell, Sarah Dodds, Maggie Hickman Smith, Lydia Le Brun, Victoria MacLeod, Eleanor Matthews, Meryl Mathieson, Mary Quinn, Wendy Parkin, Gina Underwood, Brenda Watson and Barney’s Suzanne Williams.

As well as original oil paintings, prints, glass work and mixed media stitch craft there is intricate jewellery work and ceramics on display.

The network intend on running “meet the artist” sessions throughout the exhibition’s run and will announce the dates and times through The Witham’s social media sites.
