Hot Rods gig in memory of singer Barrie will be rescheduled

NOT FORGOTTEN: Barrie Masters

THE organiser of two high profile gigs at The Hub, in Barnard Castle, is hopeful both can be rescheduled.
Folk-punk band Driven Serious were due to have performed earlier this month, while the Hot Rods and Dept S were due on Saturday June 13.
Promoter Dave Palmer said: “This gig was part of the Hot Rods 2020 UK tour in memory of Barrie Masters.
“When Eddie and the Hot Rods performed in Barnard Castle, in September 2018, they received such an enthusiastic welcome that Simon Bowley, the drummer, contacted me and said that the band would like to include a Barnard Castle gig as part of their 2020 UK tour.
“Obviously both myself and the TCR Hub were very pleased to oblige and make that happen.
“Commemorative tour T- shirts were produced with the list of UK dates printed on the reverse side, and it was really great to see TCR Hub, Barnard Castle, alongside some UK legendary live venues such as The Half Moon, Putney.
“Maybe the T-shirts will be collectable for the tour that never happened.”
Mr Palmer is hopeful two other gigs scheduled for later in the year will be staged.
The duo When Rivers Meet are due for a return to Stainton Village Hall on Saturday September 26, and the legendary John Otway is pencilled in for Friday, November 13.
“The When Rivers Meet date is still on the schedule but will be reviewed as the extent of the coronavirus restrictions become clearer nearer the time,” said Mr Palmer.
“When Rivers Meet expect to have a new album released by then and this gig will be part of their UK wide album tour.
“Aaron and Grace Bond continue to gain plaudits throughout the UK, their popularity is growing fast and I expect this gig to sell out.
He said the John Otway gig would also be reviewed nearer the time, but added: “Let’s all hope that come November we will have returned to some kind of normality.”
