Duo kick off summer of comedy in Teesdale

RADIO STAR: Sophie Willan is heading to Barney

BARNARD Castle’s Funny Way To Be Comedy kicks off its summer season next week when Sophie Willan and Jonny Pelham treat fans to sneak preview of what’s to come.

On Monday, May 13, Sophie Willan will be trying out material for her popular Radio 4 show Sophie Willan’s Guide to Normality, while Jonny Pelham will be previewing work that will form the basis of his Edinburgh show later this year. Both will present hour-long sets.

Promoter Peter Dixon said: “Sophie is clearly destined to become a major star in the comedy world. Her last tour show was one of the best things I saw last year.

“Her previews in Barnard Castle make it a very unusual change from the norm as she will be presenting all four 15 minute episodes of her forthcoming BBC Radio 4 series during her hour set.

“This is a unique chance to see her in action and hear the material before the rest of the nation does.

“To have Jonny Pelham also present a show as part of a double bill is a great bonus.”

The show also starts at 7.30pm and is suitable for ages 14-plus. Tickets are £12.

Tickets are available from The Witham box office on 01833 631107, or online from funnywaytobe.com.
