Turn Barney Pink raises over £9,000
Fundraisers are tickled pink that their latest charity event raised more than £9,000.
The annual two-week Turn Barney Pink extravaganza organised by Teesdale Cancer Research UK was a huge success.
A wide range of events took place to tie in with the hugely popular event including the Pink Day at Barnard Castle Cricket Club, which raised a remarkable £3,080 and was attended by more than 100 people.
A Sparkling Wine Afternoon Tea hosted by Inglenook Wine Bar & Merchants, on The Bank, brought in £1,000.
Moments Café provided the food and Leona Spenceley, Katherine Bowman, Angela Bayles and The Blue Bell supplied gifts for the hampers.
The Inglenook’s owner, Morgan Derbyshire, said: “I’d like to thank everyone who helped with our afternoon tea and raffle.
“We made a whopping £1,000, which is way beyond what we ever expected.”
Teesdale School raised a further £1,137 (£1,161 with gift aid) and a spokesman said: “A huge thank you to everyone who has supported our bake and craft sale, whether it be baking, making or donating.”
Pam Ashmore from Teesdale Cancer Research UK helped organise Turn Barney Pink and was delighted with the amount raised.
“We had more than 20 organisations including clubs, schools, care homes and businesses who raised money,” she said.
“The committee would like to thank everybody who helped support Turn Barney Pink and make it such a success.”
A Fashion Show will take place at GSK Sports & Social Club on Tuesday, November 17, with proceeds going to Teesdale Cancer Research UK.
The event starts at 7pm and tickets, which cost £5, are available from Pam Ashmore (07716 293618) or at the Hair Studio, Galgate.
Outfits from the Complete Clothing Company will be modelled and all items can be bought on the night.
