AUTHOR and actor Chris Foote-Wood is bringing down the curtain on his one-man show The Genius of Charles Dickens with a final performance at The Witham, Barnard Castle, on Friday December 2, at 7.30pm.
After ten years touring his Dickens show around the UK, including five years at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Mr Foote-Wood, brother of the late comedienne, writer and actor Victoria Wood, is planning a new show while continuing his popular illustrated author talks, each based on one of the 20 or so biographies and other non-fiction books he has written.
He said: “Nothing lasts forever, and I have decided to make a change that involves less travelling.”
In his one-man show, Mr Foote-Wood follows the example of his hero Dickens, who gave public performances of his work in the theatre, acting out the parts with “animated readings” .
The show is also a fundraiser for The Witham. Tickets are £8 and £5 for students are available from www.thewitham.org.uk or at the box office 01833 631107.
