Barney band tunes up for a blast of brass

HAVING A BLAST: Members of Barney band during an impromptu pop-up performance at the end of last year

THE sound of brass band music will ring out from the TCR Hub in Barnard Castle on Sunday, August 1.
Barnard Castle Band, under the guidance of leader Andrew Nicholson, will present a Blast of Brass from 6.30pm.
Organisers say the outdoor event is also aimed at drumming up interest in brass band music.
Family activities co-ordinator Sarah Gent said: “We are interested to discover if there are children and young people who would like to be part of a new brass feeder group, so this is your chance to come along and enjoy some live music while discovering more about this lively, local band.”
The performance starts at 6.30pm and visitors are welcome to bring their own picnic and chairs.
Those attending are asked to be in place by 6.15pm and are also advised there is limited car parking available
Tickets are £3 each or £8 for a family of four.
For more details and to book, go to www.tcrhub.co.uk.
